Everton have been linked with a summer move for Brazilian midfielder Matheus Nunes from Sporting Lisbon.
According to the Portuguese newspaper Record, the Premier League club are working hard to secure new signings, and the talented young Brazilian is a priority target.
The Toffees could offer a package of around €20 million including bonuses, and talks have already progressed between the two parties.
The agency representing the Brazilian midfielder has close ties with Jorge Mendes’ firm Gestifute, who are also working on Nuno Espirito Santo’s move to Goodison Park.
It is fair to assume that Everton will only sign the midfielder after the managerial appointment is confirmed later this week.
The 22-year-old bagged three goals and three assists across all competitions this past season and could be a smart long term acquisition for Everton.
He has the potential to justify the reported €20m outlay as he should improve with more experience under his belt.
Ruben Neves progressed under the coaching of Nuno at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and the former Molineux boss could have a similar impact on the Brazilian’s game.
Nunes will probably be followed to Goodison Park by other clients of Mendes if Nuno’s appointment comes to fruition.
