After Arsenal were dumped out of the FA Cup by the towel boys at Stoke it left the only competitions to play for as the League and the Champions League. I think Arsenal have a fantastic chance to push all the way but as so many opposition fans have told me, Arsenal fritter away around February.
Obviously I hope it isn’t the case, but the games coming up are the most important in the Gunners season. Often his fledglings are said to be a bit weak. They showed determination against Bolton and Everton in the last month but the games coming up will require solidarity and classy, silky football. Arsenal are uncompromising in their style and will want to win as many games as possible. They play Villa, Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool all one after the other. Important games to shape Arsenal challenge.
Without a striker since the start of November, Arsenal have still scored goals. This is because of the rise of the quality players in midfield. Arshavin will score goals, as will Fabregas. But Diaby, Nasri, Rosicky and even Arsenal’s worst player in Denilson scores goals. The Brazilian has scored the first Arsenal goal every time he hits the net.
My brother asked me why the dislike for Denilson? He has no pace, cannot tackle. He is the sort of player that when glancing at his statistics, looks decent, but actually watching his game makes his place alongside Fabregas frankly insulting. He is a crab. He likes to pass sideways and the desire to run for the team is never quite there.
On the flip-side, Alex Song and Diaby look stronger and have improved immensely. If these two stay fit, they are the players to hold while Cesc dazzles. Aaron Ramsey is another player that scores and will have a huge part to play in the remainder of the season. Eduardo admittedly hasn’t been amazing, but with every game he looks sharper. The back four look solid enough, and are imperative to any chance of Arsenal success.
I would love Wenger to sign a forward, but it won’t happen. Bendtnar will be a great player to comeback and finally a recognized striker will play. I don’t trust Walcott to play in the team, never mind as the frontman. I feel for him as he’s been out for so long. I’m sure with a bit of confidence, he might be playing regular before the end of the season. The same really applies to Vela.
This is it, the make or break part of Arsenal’s season. To come out of it with around nine points of twelve will be enough to push on the rest of the campaign. You never know, Arsenal could become the runaway leaders…we can always dream eh!
