According to reports from Spanish Media outlet Sport, Dani Alves’ agent Dinorah Santana has confirmed that the Barcelona superstar is close to signing for another club in the coming summer.
The 31 year old whose contract with the Catalan giants expires in the summer has been linked with a move to Manchester United. With no talks over a possible extension in sight, Alves could well make a move in the coming summer transfer market.
Santana was quoted saying, “We are close to signing for another club, talks are underway. Dani [Alves] is still available, but we will not wait much longer.”
The agent also slammed Barcelona for making the full back look like the villain in the contract stand-off between the two parties. “Dani has been placed as the bad guy in the negotiations. They [Barcelona] want to make us believe that is bad and it is not.”
This is not the first time that Alves’ agent has spoken out. He had earlier also stated that Alves is looking for a new club.
Alves turns 32 next May, and while he is not the same player he was 6-8 years back, the Brazilian is still good enough to represent any top club in the world. Should United manage to sign both him, the club would get a a world class player with plenty of experience.
