CIES, who has developed a unique approach to estimate, on a scientific basis, the transfer value of professional football players, has made a list of top 100 expensive players around Europe. The prices thus calculated depend on multiple variables on. includes multiple variables on player performance (minutes, goals, etc.) and characteristics (age, contract, etc.), as well as data on employer clubs and potential recruiting ones.

Neymar with €246.8m is the player with the highest estimated transfer value. He is way ahead of Messi (€170.5m) and Suárez (€145.2). Interestingly, Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli, have featured in the top 10. Kane is valued at €139.2m, while his club and country teammate Alli is valued at €110.5m.

Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard finds himself in the 10th place with an estimated transfer value of €101.5m. Diego Costa, who has received a mega offer from China recently, is just outside the top 30. Arsenal winger, Alexis Sanchez, is at no 20 with a €76.3m estimated value. Liverpool trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mané and Philippe Coutinho all feature in the top 50.
