Agent’s comments sparks Chelsea midfielder transfer talks

Let’s start the day with a couple of transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea. According to reports from the trusted and reliable TMW website from Italy, Blues midfielder Ramires faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian has featured in just 16 appearances this season, 12 of them being from the bench and has mustered just over 500 minutes of playing time.

The report from TMW cites Ramires’ agent Luis Carlini saying, “There are ongoing negotiations for the farewell of Ramires to Chelsea. I also did not receive any information from the club’s desire to add in any operation of the market. It ‘also true that in football nothing is impossible.”

With Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas establishing themselves in the first team, Ramires would now have to be satisfied with a bit part role. Moreover, a likely addition in the form Juan Cuadrado could see the Brazilian fall further down the pecking order. Ramires has been used as a right sided midfielder at times but Willian’s great form has seen his international team mate start from the bench.

In other news, Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Douglas Costa has told Globo Esporte (reported by ESPN) that he dreams to play for Chelsea. Costa was quoted saying, “It’s a dream to play at Chelsea, a unique chance. I will try to negotiate.”

Daily Mail however report that Chelsea’s £16m offer for the player has been rejected as Shaktar are holding out for £30m. Jose Mourinho’s side had earlier believed that Costa would be a cheaper alternative to Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado but it now appears that the price tag could deter the Blues from making a move in the remaining days of the January transfer window.

Shaktar though might have to sell tehir prized asset at a much lower price as most of their top class players have threatened to leave due to fierce battles between Ukrainian troops and suspected separatist rebels in the country. Moreover, the Blues could use Willian (a former Shaktar player himself) to convince Douglas Costa to put a transfer request in favour of switching loyalties.
