Chelsea star Eden Hazard’s father has put the recent speculation surrounding the player’s future to bed after suggesting the attacker is not looking for an exit from Stamford Bridge.

The Belgium international’s contract with the Premier League champions runs down in 2020 and despite that, his future was reportedly uncertain with his current employers. The 25-year-old has been linked with moves to European giants and it includes the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Recent reports suggest Chelsea star’s move to the Spanish capital club is a “done deal.” In addition to this, the player earlier admitted that a move to PSG will be difficult to snub and his father has now explained the context on which Hazard made those comments.

“Eden has never said he wanted to play for PSG. He’s just confirmed that PSG have become a big club and that every player would like to play for clubs of that level. Eden has a contract until 2020. It’s out of question that he’ll leave Chelsea at the moment,” Hazard’s father told Belgian newspaper Le Soir.

Former Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins had advised Hazard to leave Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window, if he no longer remains interested in continuing at the club.

“Over the last couple of games it has appeared that his heart is not in it,” Wilkins told Talksport.

“Whether he is lacking an immense amount of confidence [I don’t know]. He was absolutely outstanding last season. I think even Jose Mourinho said he was the best under-24 player in the world last year.

“His drop from grace has been dramatic. It might be better off that he does part company [with the club].

“He is hugely talented and he showed at times last night with a couple of little turns and darts away from people that he is a top quality player, but if your heart’s not in it, then why stay?”

However, Hazard’s father has explained why his son has been struggling in recent times as the forward is yet to score a goal in the Premier League this season.

“Eden’s lack of form is due to an injury, an inflammation in the hip, that he’s been carrying now for three or four months,” Hazard’s father stressed.

“Instead of giving Eden the time to overcome the injury and have a proper rest, they push him to play because they have some important games… he has no choice.”
