Chelsea star David Luiz is reportedly close to joining Barcelona in the summer according to Spanish daily AS Sport.
It is believed that Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for the 27 year old who has reportedly fallen out with manager Jose Mourinho. The Brazilian has admitted that Chelsea’s season has been an absolute failure. “You can say it is a s*** season if you don’t have trophies in a season at a big club, that is true,” Luiz said.
Barcelona are desperate to strengthen their defense and according to Barcastuff twitter handle, the Blaugrana will sign a couple of centre backs in the summer and have been keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and FC Basl’s Fabian Schar.
Not yet decided if Barcelona will sign 1 or 2 centre backs this year. They’ve been in touch with David Luiz, Hummels and Basel’s Schar. [md]

Luiz has played a bit-part role for Chelsea, featuring in just 27 games this season with Mourinho opting to field John Terry and Gary Cahill at the heart of the defense. However the defender will play a pivotal role for Luiz Felipe Scolari’s Brazilian side in the World Cup this summer.
Other reports have claimed that Barcelona have already reached an agreement with Luiz’s agent and the player will be earning €5.5m a year, however this remains a rumour.
So what do you think? Will Barcelona be finally able to sign the Brazilian in the summer?
