He has been one of the best players in the world this season, and is leading the fight against Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona in La Liga; but it seems Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa is not long for the Spanish capital, and latest reports are linking both Chelsea and Manchester United with the explosive striker.
According to today’s edition of Spanish newspaper ‘El Confidencial’, Man Utd are looking at swooping for the Brazilian-born hit-man.
David Moyes’ side are currently deep within a striker crisis, with Van Perise currently injured and rumoured to be unhappy at the club, while Wayne Rooney has yet to sign a new deal at the club.
The signing of Diego Costa would be a stunning riposte in the face of such troubles, and would surely brighten the mood in Manchester, with the club lying eighth in the league after some poor early winter form.
Chelsea have also been linked with the striker in the last few days, with Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reporting on his website that the Blues are considering a move in the summer.
Jose Mourinho has been scathing of his front-men in recent weeks, and will be no surprise if the Portuguese decides to snap up a ‘killer’ striker come the end of the season.
Indeed, only the other day we brought you the news that Chelsea and Arsenal were looking at the Atletico man.
The English sides will surely not be the only suitors for Costa, considering his recent goal-scoring exploits (he’s scored more goals than Messi, Ronaldo and Luis Suarez domestically this season).
It is doubtful that Atletico will be hold on to their star man, and having sold a plethora of sensational strikers for enormous prices before Costa’s arrival on the scene, expect an explosive battlefield come the summer, with a host of big sides vying for his signature.
