Chelsea board have held a nine hour meeting to discuss the future of club manager Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager has been under immense pressure following his side’s catastrophic start to the season and this week’s defeat against Leicester City has piled further pressure on the Chelsea fan favourite.

Although the club came out with a public backing of their manager earlier this season, it seems that the Chelsea board are concerned with the recent results and are willing to reevaluate Mourinho’s position as Chelsea manager.

According to Daily Mail, the Chelsea board have decided to continue with Jose Mourinho after a nine hour meeting with the club chiefs after the Bournemouth defeat.

One of the main reasons behind Mourinho being given more time is his hefty compensation package and the lack of ideal replacements.

Furthermore, Daily Star have now claimed that Roman Abramovich has refused to spend any money on transfers this January.

Mourinho will be forced to work with the current crop of players until the summer.

Abramovich’s decision is shocking considering the fact that the Blues are in desperate need of some attacking reinforcements soon.

Chelsea’s season is far from over and it is surprising to see that the owner is not willing to back his club with the necessary resources and help the manager turn it around.
