Sami Khedira faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid. Over the course of the summer transfer window, the German World Cup winner was linked with Arsenal and Chelsea but his move failed to materialize as he stayed at the Spanish capital. However according to fresh reports from media outlet Fichajes, the 27 year old could well leave Real Madrid but the question is when.
Khedira’s contract is set to expire with the reigning European Champions in the summer of 2015 and there have been no negotiations of a possible contract extension. The holding midfielder has demanded an attractive wage packet which the Madrid board are in no mood to offer. The Galacticos thus have an important question to answer. Will they sell Khedira in January on a paltry sum or will they risk over the option of losing the player on a free in the coming summer.
Khedira has fallen the pecking order at the Bernabeu ever since the arrival of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez in the summer. Moreover, we had also reported last week that should Real sign Brazilian Lucas Silva in January, it would be more or less easy to assume that Khedira’s career is over at Madrid. But where will the World Cup winner play next? Stamford Bridge, Emirates or anywhere else? Surely time will provide an apt answer.
