Champions League is back this midweek and we have come cracking games to engross ourselves with. Arsenal will take on German giants Borussia Dortmund while Chelsea will travel to Germany to face Schalke 04. On Wednesday, Manchester United will take on Spanish outfit Real Sociedad while derby rivals Manchester City will travel to Moscow to face CSKA Moscow.
Arsenal v Dortmund
The Gunners couldn’t have picked a better time to face the last season’s runners up of this competition. They are on a roll at the moment. Sitting top of the Premier League, they’re firing all cylinders inspired by a German bloke called Mesut Ozil, with confidence and body language operating at a different level.
The Gunners have not lost a single match in the league since their opening day defeat at the hands of Aston Villa and are top of the Group F table in the Champions League as well, winning both their matches so far. Dortmund bounced back in the league with a victory over Hannover this weekend and are second in the Bundesliga, just 1 point behind Bayern Munich. A draw won’t be a bad result for the Gunners.
Prediction: 2-2
Schalke v Chelsea
The Blues have found their mojo back under Jose Mourinho and have moved second in the Premier League table. Last time they earned an emphatic victory over Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League and will be hoping to get another positive result against the German side that are sitting top of Group E with 6 points.
Prediction: 1-2
Man Utd v Real Sociedad
Manchester United may be languishing 8th in the Premier League but they can take solace from the fact that there are currently leading the Group A table in the Champions League.
They are up against Real Sociedad, who are yet to earn a point in this competition. At home, expect United to dominate and produce a moral boosting performance. They badly need it.
Prediction: 2-0
CSKA Moscow v Manchester City
Last time Manchester City were utterly humiliated by Kings of Europe Bayern Munich at the Etihad as the Citizens lost 3-1. However, this weekend, an inspiring performance from David Silva has earned full three points for Manuel Pellegrini’s side against West Ham.
City will be in a very good position, should they earn full three points on Wednesday. They need to carry on the momentum from here on.
Prediction: 1-2
