Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is just one game short of reaching his 100 caps for the Spain international team. It is indeed a remarkable achievement for any player to have played 100 games for his country.
Radio Marca had organised a surprise interview for Cesc, where they bought his grandparents, parents and his best friend to the show.
Fabregas says he is thrilled to reach the milestone, and believes there are several other players from this current group of players who will reach the magic figure at some point in future as well.
“I would be thrilled to reach that figure, I hope so. I hope it’s sooner rather than later and can reach 100 caps for Spain. 100 games in 10 years since the debut a lot. I appreciate it a lot on my part and on the part of the coaches.
“This generation will make many 100 games. Cazorla, Busquets, Silva … I will not be the only one to meet 100 games.”
The Chelsea midfielder recollects his memories during his time as an Arsenal player, where he started his professional career at the age of 16.
Fabregas spent eight glorious years at Arsenal and captained the side as well, however his move to rivals Chelsea in 2014-15 didn’t bode well with the Gunners fans.
To be honest, Fabregas wanted to return to Arsenal, but Arsene Wenger told him that he cannot guarantee him a place as his side was choc-a-bloc with world class attacking midfielders.
The Spaniard had few options left other than Chelsea at that moment, and in order to kick start his professional career after leaving Barcelona, he moved to the Blue half of London, where he won the league title in his first season.
Fabregas reveals that Arsenal still holds a special place in his heart.
“When I went to London it was a strong hand, but it was clear that my goal was to be a footballer. I will always have a special affection for the Arsenal”.
The Spain international has showed sympathy to his friend Gerard Pique, and criticised the Spain fans for booing their own player.
“The whistles to irritate everyone Gerard He is strong and I’m with him Time heals everything and this will pass.”
Fabregas also commented on Chelsea’s poor start to the season, and revealed his admiration for Jose Mourinho. The Blues find themselves 16th in the Premier League, managing only two wins from their eight games so far.
“We’re not playing well. Chelsea have the best coach and you have to overcome the situation. Mourinho is the best coach you can have and the best in the history of Chelsea.”
