Santi Cazorla has admitted he will look to leave Arsenal unless the club start winning trophies according to ESPN.
Santi Cazorla in an interview with Sport 360 today revealed that he would want to return to Spain if Arsenal don’t start winning trophies. Cazorla recently signed a contract extension with Arsenal.
“I want titles and that is why I came to Arsenal,” said Cazorla. “Every football player wants to win titles. We’ve gone many years without winning one. And if not, what I’ll look for in my next destination is to have the chance to win.
“I don’t want to close doors, but nowadays I’ve a contract with Arsenal for two more seasons. When I’m turning 31, I’ll evaluate myself and I’ll choose the best option. In which case, I would be delighted to come back [to Spain].”
Last summer we reported Atletico Madrid’s interest in Santi Cazorla but the midfielder suggested he was happy at London. It remains to be seen if the Rojiblancos revive their interest this summer.

Santi Cazorla admitted Arsenal lack a winning mentality. Arsenal are out of the title race and are now finding it difficult to qualify for the Champions League. The FA Cup is the only hope to end their nine-year trophy drought.
“We haven’t got a winning mentality and we have to believe in ourselves (more),” said Cazorla. “Sometimes you can get used to not fighting, but we can’t do that. Arsenal is and will always be a historic football club, we have to look forward.
“We’ve been unlucky in several games. We had a lot of chances to win against Manchester United and there was Ozil’s penalty (against Bayern). We couldn’t recover after going out against Bayern in the Champions League.
“And the defeat against Stoke finished us. You can’t lose against Stoke if you aspire to be the next champion.”
Cazorla also revealed he had spoken with Spain teammate Iker Casillas about the possibility of the goalkeeper moving to the Emirates Stadium this summer. Casillas is out of favour at Real Madrid and has only appeared in Champions League and Copa Del Rey.
“I’ve told him (Casillas) I would like him to join Arsenal, but so far he has just been curious about my experience in England,” said Cazorla. “His situation is very complicated, but he has to make a decision.
“Lots of clubs want him, including Arsenal, but I think that it would be very difficult to leave Real Madrid because of what the club represents. He knows what he has [at Madrid] and what he could find at another club.”
Well, these are indeed harsh comments from the Spaniard, but isn’t it what majority of the Arsenal fans are feeling at the moment?
