Brazil star agrees Barcelona contract extension, new release clause is €75m

RafinhaBarcelona have confirmed their midfielder Rafinha has agreed to sign a new contract, which will keep him at Nou Camp until 2020. The news was revealed on the club’s official website on Monday.

The new deal will extend his stay with his current employers for the next five years. At the same time, his release clause has now set to €75m. The 22-year-old will sign the new deal in the “next few days.”

” FC Barcelona announced on Monday morning that an agreement has been reached with Rafael Alcántara, ‘Rafinha’, to extend his contract until 30 June 2020. His buyout clause has been set at 75 million euros, and the new contract will be signed over the next few days,” a statement read on Barcelona’s official website.

Having joined Barcelona at a very young age in 2006, the attacking midfielder came up through the ranks of the La Liga giants’ youth setup. He was promoted to Barcelona’s B team in 2011.

A loan spell at Celta where Luis Enrique was the manager helped him excel in 2013-14 season. In the summer, that year, Rafinha returned to Barcelona, while Enrique was appointed as their new manager,

Having played under the new manager at Celta, the Brazil international continued to shine for Barcelona. His progress was hindered when he picked up an injury following a tackle from Radja Nainggolan in the Champions League clash against AS Roma.

Rafinha tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Barcelona fans will be happy knowing that the South American midfielder has decided to commit his future to the treble winners.
