Real Madrid assistant manager Paul Clement has insisted that Arsenal target Alvaro Morata and Manchester United target Fabio Coentrao will not leave the club in the January transfer window.

In an interview with talkSport Clement made it clear that the duo won’t be sold, echoing what Carlo Ancelotti has been saying for the past few days.

Alvaro Morata

When asked whether Madrid would be willing to let Morata and Coentrao leave in the winter transfer window, he said:

“I don’t think so at this point. Alvaro is going to attract interest because he is a very talented young player, he’ll be very sought-after.

“But we have a small squad here, we’re working with 20 outfield players and we currently have two players out with injury, so that leaves us with 18.

“These are the players that I’m pretty sure we will work with for the rest of the season.

“I don’t see any movement in this window at all from us. We’ve very happy with the players we’ve got and in the majority of cases the players are happy at the club and want to help us be successful this year in every competition.”

Arsenal were thought to be interested in signing young Morata while reports emerged that the player’s agent was in London to hold talks with the North London club.

Likewise, Manchester United were linked with left-back Coentrao, as David Moyes was thought to be keen in signing a left-back, after failing to lure Everton full-back Leighton full-back.

So, as it stands, neither of the player will be allowed to leave, but Clement hints that the there could be a possibility of a transfer in summer.
