The word is that the Catalan giants Barcelona might lose four of their best young players. They are: Spanish striker Jeffren Suarez, Mexican midfielder Jonathan dos Santos, Israeli forward Gai Assulin and Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara. They are all reportedly on the radar of English clubs as Barca has time and time again produced players who have achieved excellence in their career.
Well, if the English clubs get their hands on one of those kids, that would also mean one less chance for a British kid. If Manchester United can not take Arsenal players but they can take Barcelona players, it still means one less opportunity for the genuinely home grown players.
As a matter of fact, Assulin was taken from the Israeli club Maccabi Haifa and Thiago is actually a Brazilian born in Italy and given Spanish citizenship to play for Barcelona; he was playing for Flamengo in Brazil. There is no loyalty anymore, is there?
Josep Guardiola has brought it on himself a little bit. These players were dumped into the Barcelona B team, which plays in the Segunda Division B (third level of Spanish football leagues). When Guardiola brought Barcelona over to England for the tournament at Wembley, all four of these players excelled beyond their age.
