Arsene Wenger has dropped a major hint that Thomas Vermaelen could be on his way to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
“Vermaelen is injured. It is a possibility that he goes,” the North London club’s boss said.

The Belgium international has seen his first team appearances being limited last season. Injuries to the centre-back saw the Gunners manager field Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny in the heart of the defence.
Lack of playing time has seen Vermaelen being linked with a move from the Emirates, with Manchester United being his preferred destination. According to the report from The Independent, the 28-year-old is set to hold crucial talks with Wenger in order to get clear view of what lies ahead for him at the club.
Vermaelen has one year left on his contract and has not signed a new deal. It is better for Arsenal if they allow their skipper leave in the ongoing summer transfer window, rather than letting him go for nothing after the end of the next season.
Meanwhile, United could face competition from Barcelona in signing Vermaelen as the Metro reports that the Catalan club are also interested in signing the central defender.
