The New Zealand defender’s future has been under constant speculation recently, but by signing a long contract worth £65,000-a-week, the club has received a massive boost.
Reid was a transfer target of Tottenham Hotspur who were keen to sign him on a Bosman fee transfer in the summer.
Arsenal were also thought to be interested in him, but West Ham managed to convince the 26-year-old to sign a new deal.
Reid was forced out against Chelsea on Wednesday night through injury after seven minutes.
The Gunners have signed Gabriel Paulista in the January transfer window, and therefore they may not need to sign another centre-back in the summer.
West Ham are going through a bad patch at the moment, having not registered a win in their last seven games.
