Having completed the sales of Diaby and Szczesny to Marseille and Roma, more Arsenal transfer news as Wenger prepares to sign Juventus striker, Fernando Llorente.
The former Bilbao striker is surplus to requirements at the Italian club and is looking for a move away. Real Madrid and Spurs have made an enquiry for the player but it seems Arsenal are in the driving seat, after Real Madrid cooled their interest.
According to Corriere Dello Sport, Llorente’ agent has flown to London to meet the Gunners and will conclude a deal for his client if everything goes to plan.
Arsenal are thought to have beaten Tottenham to Llorente as the player prefers Champions League football and wants to play for Arsene Wenger.
Initially linked with Real Madrid forward, Karim Benzema, Wenger has decided to move on after it was confirmed that the Frenchman is happy and will not leave Real Madrid this summer.
It is believed that Arsenal will pay 12 million euros to Juventus for the services of Llorente.
Arsenal’ need for a striker is no secret and Llorente is a proven goalscorer in the league as well as Europe. The Spaniard is expected to lead the line for Wenger next season with Giroud as an alternative.
There are exciting times for the Gunners, who have a quality spine to their side and are definite title contenders next season.
