Arsenal midfielder, Mathieu Flamini has been asked to leave the club this summer, but the Frenchman has insisted on a big payoff to compensate for the loss of wages.
Flamini has lost his first team place to Francis Coquelin since the turn of the year and has been asked to leave by the club.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Turkey this summer and Wenger has informed the player to take any transfer opportunity that comes his way.
Wenger has informed that midfielder that he is not a part of his plans and there might be new signings in his position before the window closes.
The Gunners are in desperate need of a striker and a defensive midfielder and after the 2-0 loss against West Ham, Wenger is under pressure to sign some quality players this month.
Arsenal Transfer: Flamini replacement on the radar
Arsenal scouts were in attendance of yesterday’s supercup clash between Sevilla and Barcelona in order to run the rule over potential signing Grzegorz Krychowiak.
The Sevilla midfielder has been one of the best midfielders in Spain over the last year and has been linked with a move away. It is believed that Arsenal are ready to meet his 21 million pound buyout clause.
Although Flamini claimed that he will not give up on his Arsenal future, it seems there is no way back for him.
“I don’t like to give up that easily”.
“In football everything can move very easily one way and another. I don’t like to look back at the past. We are starting a new season and I’m focused on that one”, he said in July.
Arsenal are well stocked with creative midfielders and will need to sign a good defensive midfielder if they are to compete against good midfields, both in the league as well as the Champions League.
Flamini has been a handy squad player for them, but nobody can blame Wenger for wanting to replace him. It is about time Arsene looked for an upgrade in that position.
