Arsenal are in talks to sign Brazilian midfielder Jorginho from Napoli, according to the latest reports in Italy.
Jorginho only signed for Napoli in January, but now reports emerging from ‘tuttomercatoweb.com’ claim that the Brazilian’s agent Joao Santos was in London this week, holding talks with Premier League side Arsenal.
Santos is also expected to fly to Italy in the second week of April to hold talks with Napoli officials over a possible switch for his client, with Tottenham also said to be in the fray.
It is believed that the Brazilian wants to hone his skills in England’s top tier football, and Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign an anchorman replace Mikel Arteta in the middle of the park. Jorginho fits the bill perfectly thanks to his incisive passing, nimble footwork, and dazzling dynamism on the ball.
The 22-year-old has so far made eleven appearances for Rafa Benitez’s side, and it is highly unlikely that the Spanish tactician would agree to part company with his latest acquisition easily.
Benitez had earlier praised Jorginho’s work ethic and maintained that the Brazilian would be crucial to his side in the coming seasons, claiming his presence in the field can lift the side in moments of concern.
When I asked popular Italian journalist and football transfers reporter David Amoyal on Twitter regarding Jorginho’s current situation, this was what he had to say.
@tc917 I seriously doubt that, Arsenal and other clubs lost their chance in January

It may be a case of the rumour mill exaggerating claims linking Jorginho to Arsenal in the coming summer.
What do you think? Do Arsenal need a new anchorman?
