Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky has insisted that the Gunners have the squad this time round to win the Premier League title.
The Czech Republic midfielder has praised the squad’s impressive form over the festive period and believes the team has got a new found belief and resilience. The 33-year-old believes that the Gunners have been finally able to put the ghost of December behind them and has hailed the squad’s impressive form to overcome that “bumpy” period.
After enduring an 8-year trophy drought, Arsenal are thought to be a genuine contender for the Premier League title and are currently leading the table by one point from Manchester City.
Rosicky believes that the current side has got enough experience now and has the required maturity to win the title. Speaking to the club’s official website, he said:
“It was a bit bumpy when we lost against Manchester City and drew against Everton. But you will always have phases like that in a year so that’s nothing new.
“This team has more experience than it did in the past. We have [Per] Mertesacker, [Mesut] Ozil, who won things in Madrid and the other experienced boys like Mikel [Arteta] and [Mathieu] Flamini.
“Plus the English boys are not kids anymore, they gained experience through the years of playing here so that’s why I think we have the maturity to do it this year.”
The midfielder himself has been in good form this season and scored the second goal in Saturday’s FA Cup win over Tottenham.
Rosicky pointed out Arsenal’s brilliant come-back win against West Ham on the Boxing Day as an example of the team’s resilience this season.
