After having a €25m bid rejected by Sporting, Arsenal are set to pursue their interest in William Carvalho but any such bid by the Gunners will be dependent on whether Arsene Wenger’s side beat Turkish opposition Besiktas for a Champions League place. The second leg is on a knife’s edge and the encounter scheduled on Wednesday resumes after the first leg in Turkey ended in a goalless stalemate.
The report has been cited by TMW while Portuguese media outlet A Bola also reported the latest developments. However the credibility of the original source is yet to be verified.
We had also earlier reported that Sporting were willing to do business for €30m-35m and the Portuguese outfit are unwilling to lower their asking price for the 22 year old sensation. Sporting definitely want the player to stay and hence aren’t willing to let their prized asset go on a cheap. Arsenal’s fierce rivals Chelsea are also thought to be interested in Carvalho but the Jose Mourinho’s side hasn’t made any concrete offers for the midfielder.
