Schalke 04 star Julian Draxler has revealed his intention to leave the German outfit at the end of the season, with Arsenal now seemingly clear to launch an assault for the German in the summer.
Draxler, 20, admitted to the German press (via the Metro) that his time at Schalke was coming to an end, with Arsenal waiting in the wings,
‘I can make my own decision about my future and I want a new challenge,’ Draxler said yesterday,
‘It’s no secret that I have a buyout clause in my contract and so from year-to-year I think about what is best for my development.
‘It leaves room for a lot of speculation, but I am calm and it’s also good for all sides.’
The rumoured £37m buyout clause in his contract is a potential sticking point, but the Metro go on to say that Schalke may be willing to do business for less than the asking price come the summer.
Schalke’s 6-1 hammering at the hands of Real Madrid last night may have even further persuaded the young German that a move up to the next level is becoming more and more necessary for his burgeoning career.
What do you think? Is it time for Draxler to jump ship? Let me know in the comments below…
