According to reports in Spanish newspaper Marca, Arsenal have reached an agreement with Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira who is also a Chelsea target. It is believed that the Los Blancos have agreed on a €25m offer from the Gunners. Sky Sports have also confirmed the news.
The midfielder however has requested a salary of €7m net per year but the London club might not pay that figure. But several German players with the likes of Lukas Podolski, Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker already featuring for the Emirates outfit, personal terms are more or less likely to be agreed.
The 27 year old has one year left on his contract at the Bernabeu but would fall down the pecking order at the Spanish capital with the imminent arrival of Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich.
Podolski had earlier voiced his desire for Khedira to join him at Arsenal during Germany’s World Cup homecoming and that the 27 year old would also link up with Mertesacker and Ozil under manager Arsene Wenger.
However Spanish website ABC have reported Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho personally called Khedira to reconsider his switch and instead ditch Arsenal for Chelsea.
It is believed that Mourinho has contacted Blues owner Roman Abramovich to hijack Arsenal’s move for the player whom he coached during his managerial tenure at Real Madrid.
