With each passing game, it is becoming clearly evident that Arsenal are lacking the much needed creativity in midfield. While Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla haven’t lived up to the expectations this season, Danny Welbeck and primarily Alexis Sanchez have shared the goal scoring responsibilities. However, the Gunners’ main problem has been the lack of a quality central defensive midfielder who can screen the back four and stop the opposition attacks.
Reports from Polish Media Outlet El Desmarque claim that Arsenal have now asked Sevilla for a possible transfer of 24 year old midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak. German giants Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the Polish international and have earmarked the player as a possible replacement for Sebastian Kehl. Kehl’s contract is set to expire in the summer and Dortmund will thus plot a move for Krychowiak.
The 24 year old who was signed by Sevilla in the summer primarily operates as a central defensive midfielder and has been in impressive form this season. Sevilla Preseident Jose Castro has however insisted that the player is happy at the Andalusian club. However given the Spanish side’s policy is to sell, Krychowiak might have to part with the club. The question however remains is when?.
It is believed that the player has a €30m release clause, which is a whopping price for such a young player. The report from El Desmarque has also hinted towards English Media outlets is one of the primary target of the Gunners. But will manager Arsene Wenger take a risk of signing the player who is inexperienced for the Premier League?
