Arsenal and Chelsea played out a 0-0 draw on Monday night, with neither side able to break the deadlock in what turned out to be a cagey affair.

The hosts had the lion’s share of the ball, but only started to get glimpses of Petr Cech’s goal in the last 20 minutes.

Despite a number of half chances, Arsene Wenger’s men were unable to fashion anything meaningful and will have to make do with a point. This means that the north Londoners move into second place in the table.

Here are the Arsenal player ratings for the game.

Wojciech Szczesny – 6/10
Not overly worked by Chelsea, but did everything he needed to with relative composure.

Kieran Gibbs – 6/10
Wasteful in possession in the first half, Gibbs had a better second 45 and almost created the winner for Giroud with a low cross.

Bacary Sagna – 7/10
A constant outlet for the hosts, Sagna took up some excellent attacking positions and whipped in a delightful cross in the first half. Kept Chelsea dangerman Eden Hazard quiet also.

Bacary Sagna

Per Mertesacker – 7/10
A solid showing from the giant German, who dealt with the threat of Fernando Torres well.

Thomas Vermaelen – 7/10
Came into the side and apart from a skewed backpass in the first half looked comfortable throughout. Made some timely challenges also.

Mikel Arteta – 7/10
The Spaniard won the ball back on repeated occasions and anchored the home side’s midfield well. Relatively good in possession also.

Aaron Ramsey – 6/10
A quiet evening for the in-form midfielder, who found it difficult to find space due to Chelsea’s three-man central midfield.

Tomas Rosicky – 7/10
Tried his best to inspire his side to victory, and was as hard working and committed as ever.

Theo Walcott – 6/10
Not given any real opportunities to hit Chelsea on the break and was on the periphery of things for the majority of the match.

Mesut Ozil – 7/10
Looked the most likely to create something to win the match. Ozil played a delightful pass for Giroud to have a shot wide and drifted into dangerous positions throughout the clash.

Mesut Ozil

Olivier Giroud – 6/10
Had fleeting sights of goal, but capped off a frustrating evening by scuffing Arsenal’s best chance of the match wide of Petr Cech’s goal.
