Arsenal’s on-loan midfielder Kim Kallstrom remains hopeful that he can continue at the Emirates during the next season.

The Swedish international joined the Gunners on-loan from Spartak Moscow in the January transfer window. However, the 31-year-old’s injury was discovered just after his arrival at the Emirates, leaving him to wait till March till he made his debut for the North London side.

Kallstrom made three appearances in the league this season for Arsenal. He says Arsene Wenger and his side are happy with his performance as he is eyeing to continue with the London giants.

“We talked a lot, but of course it stays between us. They were very happy with my performance and what I was there to do so it felt good,” Kallstrom told fotbollskanalen.se.

“We’ll see, it was a very good experience but we’ll have to see what happens. I have a year left on my contract in Russia so it is what it is now until something else happens.”

“Spartak’s a very nice club and I enjoyed working there so it will be a continuation, which is a very good option too,” the midfielder concluded.

However, it is unlikely that Kallstrom will continue at Arsenal. Wenger earlier confirmed the Swedish midfielder will leave the Emirates club after his completion of his loan spell.

“He is on loan, so he belongs to Moscow and will go back to Moscow,” Arsenal manager explained.

Earlier in February, Wenger revealed that if he had more time, he would have not signed Kallstrom on-loan.

“I would not have signed him if we’d had two or three more days to do something. It was 5pm, so sign him or nobody. We had to sign him in these conditions. We might need the players in March or April. We think it will be four to six weeks out,” Wenger said.

With Wenger’s comments on two different occasions, it remains doubtful that the Swedish star would be at the Emirates next season.
