The contract situation of Bacary Sagna is very critical for Arsenal. The Frenchman will be a free agent in the summer but Arsene Wenger wants to keep the 30-year-old at the club.
In October, Daily Mail revealed that Sagna acknowledges that it is his final season at the club and is preparing for life away from London.
The Frenchman current earns around £60,000-per-week and the right-back understands that leaving on free offers him the best prospect of a hefty pay day.
According to Alan Nixon of the Sunday People, Arsenal have targeted Everton full-back Seamus Coleman as the first choice alternative. The 25-year-old old is a regular starter for Everton and has recently signed a long-term contract. Therefore, he won’t be available in cheap and would cost around £10m.
Arsenal have a more-than-able-deputy in Carl Jenkinson and all Wenger needs is to convince Sagna to sign a new deal – would be an intelligent move than paying handsome transfer fee to Coleman or any other right back in summer.
Chelsea are targeting young French midfielder from Rennes, Tiemoue Bakayoko according to reports. The Blues have sent scouts to keep an eye on the progress of the defensive midfielder.
Scouts were also present during during Rennes’ 3-1 win against Saint-Etienne on Wednesday evening. The youngster featured for France at Under-17 level, a bright prospect for the future and is valued at around £350,000.
Manchester United and Everton and also interested in Bakayoko, who came through the academy ranks at Rennes, only made his first-team breakthrough earlier this season.
