Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Inter Milan attacking midfielder Ricardo Alvarez few years back. Back in 2011-12, Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini claimed “At this moment he has already signed for the Gunners” while many websites even speculated he would be the perfect replacement of Cesc Fabregas at the North London club.
The player himself had revealed his desire to join the Gunners, when on Twitter he claimed: “I would love to play for Arsenal, it would be a dream for me,’ he told his followers. God willing it will happen!”
The deal didn’t happen. Arsenal missed another transfer target and the player joined Serie A giants Inter Milan instead.
However, according to Calciomercato, the Argentine is set to the leave the Nerazzurri and Arsenal or Burrusia Dortmund could be preferred destination.
The 26-year-old, who is already a part of Argentine national team set-up has made 24 league starts this season, but his last appearance came in January. He’s struggling to get regular games at the club and thereby could move in the summer.
He is a good player with lots of potential. Arsenal showed great interest in him in the past, can they lure him this time?
