Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger resorted to certain degree of secrecy when asked about the possibility of signing Liverpool star Luis Suarez, at a press conference from the club’s base in Indonesia.

The Gunners have arrived in the Indonesian capital Jakarta for the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East, where Wenger responded to questions from reporters at the Indonesian capital’s airport.

Most of the questioned the Frenchman faced were about the possibility of signing Luis Suarez, who has been a target of several European heavyweights. However, Wenger looked seemingly prepared for the Suarez questions as the Arsenal manager dodged them brilliantly and refused to share details on the issue.

“Suarez? As you all know, the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I am not going to answer that question,” said Wenger, according to The Sun.

It was reported in the media that Arsenal have made a £30 million offer for the Uruguayan international, which was rebuffed by the Anfield outfit. The Reds are not prepared to sell the talisman striker to any rival clubs of the Premier League, while it is understood that any potential buyer would have to pay at least around £45 million to secure his services.

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insisted that he has been in regular communication with Suarez and has made him clear that the “magician” is highly valued at the club.

“We communicate in some way nearly every day either through text or conversations. Over the course of the last few months and towards the end of the season there has been a lot of speculation with Luis, but the fact is [the situation] remains the same,” the Reds manager told to talkSPORT.

“We value the player. He had a terrific season for us last year and showed his qualities. Since then I’ve been in communication with him through texts and conversations on the phone and [the situation] is pretty much the same. He is a valued player. He is an absolute magician on the field.”

Suarez has voiced his frustration about a witch-hunt involving him, in the English media. The Uruguayan has also made it clear how he is disenchanted with life in England, and is seeking a move elsewhere in Europe.

The 26-year-old however has been phenomenal since joining the Reds in the winter transfer window of 2011. The maverick star scored 51 goals so far in his Liverpool career, with the last season proving to be his best, where he scored 30 goals and bagged 21 assists.

However, despite all his brilliances, the Uruguayan is not immune to controversies. He would be side-lined for the opening fixtures of 2013/14 campaign, as he serves a disciplinary ten-match ban for biting Chelsea’s defender Branislav Ivanovic.

Liverpool fans have stood beside him with their unwavering support and unflinching loyalty during his darkest moments at the club, and expect him to honour that faith by extending his stay at Anfield.
