Arsenal are back in the race for Sporting’s highly rated left back Marcos Rojo, according to reports from Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
Last month we reported that Liverpool had sent scouts to watch the left-back, who can also play as a centre-back, where they were pretty impressed with what they saw.
Arsenal showed keen interest in him in the early part of the season and despite claims from Daily Mail recently that the Gunners are weighing up a bid for him, there was hardly any report of him linking with Arsenal in Portuguese press in the last couple of months.
However, A Bola reports that Arsenal have once again reignited their interest in the player but no offers have been placed for him.
Liverpool need a solid left-back in the summer and are scouting few options as well like Alberto Moreno of Sevilla. Arsenal are meanwhile looking for a central defender, with skipper Thomas Veramelen expected to leave the club in the summer.
Sporting meanwhile are not willing to sell Rojo at the moment, as they want to wait until after the World Cup to sell him because they believe his value might increase there.
Should Arsenal invest on Rojo? Well, he is a good defender, no doubt and would come in cheap, but is he the type of player Arsenal should sign in the summer?
