Arsenal target Julian Draxler has been constantly dropping hints that he might leave Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 next summer, and recently he voiced his frustration again at playing out of position.
The 19-year-old, who has a release clause of £45m, has signed a new six-year-deal in the summer; spoke about his admiration about English football and Arsenal in particular in the past, claiming Arsenal stars and his international team-mates Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker have always good things to say about the London club.
Draxler is unhappy with the new role given to him. He has been shifted on the left wing, while rookie Max Meyer has taken the no 10 role under Jens Keller. He said:
“I have now resigned myself to the fact that I am not welcome in the number 10 position here at Schalke,” he told German magazine Kicker.
“I am still convinced to be as dangerous just outside the centre. Even though I perhaps am the only one who thinks this.”
Last week, we covered here that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho looking to bring a central defender to bolster his squad and he is keen to land Inter Milan and Italy defender Andrea Ranocchia in January.
Despite making 14 appearances for Inter this season, British tabloid Daily Express reports that he has fallen down the pecking order at the San Siro under Walter Mazzarri and is ready to seek a transfer, and considering handing a transfer request.
Ranocchia, who is rated as £15m, is a regular for the Italy national squad and has made 12 appearances for the national team. His contract expires in 18 months time and will be looking for a move that guarantees him playing time ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
