Gareth Bale has got a tough job on his hands. Not only the record signing of Real Madrid will have to emulate and perhaps better the performances and influence of Mesut Ozil, but will also have to win the hearts of the Bernabeu faithfuls very quickly. If not, the ghost of Ozil will continue to haunt him.

On an auspicious transfer-deadline day, when he was unveiled at the Bernabeu, a major section of Real Madrid fans weren’t too interested about this; rather they chanted the name of the German and were eventually asked to keep quiet by none other than Florentino Perez. Through various social media platforms, Madrid fans have voiced their displeasure about the transfer of the crafted German to Arsenal.

But fans are after all fans. They get angry, they forget. But, in this case, the pulse of frustration can be felt deeply, as players of Real Madrid have started to voice their disapproval too. Sergio Ramos, the man with bundles of opinion was clearly sad with Ozil’s departure. The Spain international even said Ozil would have been the last person to leave the club, if the decision was his to take.

Likewise, newcomer from Malaga and boy who potential could replace the German on long term basis, Isco has also commented on the Spanish media sharing his displeasure with the move.

But, it takes all the attention on Earth, when erstwhile the one of world’s best players and Madrid’s elite superstar Cristiano Ronaldo adds fuel to the fire. He often gets angry with pesky issues at Madrid. No wonder, why Ozil’s departure (a matter more serious) has made him furious too.

Spanish newspaper AS claims, Ronaldo reveals Ozil’s departure is a very bad news for him, saying: “He was the player who best knew my moves in front of goal… I’m angry about Ozil leaving.”

And certainly this has to be a bad news for him as Ozil was primarily responsible for setting him up delicious ball in front of goal mouth for him to dispatch. During his time at the Spain’s Capital club, Ozil has provided 27 assists for Ronaldo.

Whether Gareth Bale can fill the void left by Ozil, remains to be seen. What is certain is that Ronaldo will have to adapt to life without Ozil now, as it is almost impossible to fathom Bale playing perfectly timed passes for Ronaldo to finish them off. Bale will bring qualities to Madrid of his own and its foolish to write him off, but whatever the Welshman adds to Madrid will be different from the man he has replaced.
