Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti in an interview with The Times reaffirmed his stance that it was his decision to sell Mesut Ozil to Arsenal.
The well-educated Italian picks Manchester City as the team to beat in the Premier League. He spoke about Arsenal who are leading the Premier League table and gave the explanation for selling Ozil. He said:
“Arsenal are doing well, but we helped them of course. Arsene Wenger has to buy us dinner, as we gave them Ozil.”
He added: “It was my decision. When we bought Gareth Bale it was difficult to find space for him, and he needs to play.”
Ozil joined the Gunners on the transfer deadline day in the summer for a club record transfer fee. The 25-year-old German star took little time to adjust the pace of the league and the assist master has already bagged 5 assist to his name, along with 3 goals in all competitions.
But more than goals and assists, it is his sheer presence that has galvanized the entire Arsenal camp. After losing the opening match at the hands of Aston Villa, things didn’t look this bright as today. How brilliantly the Gunners have turned the tide – and a lion share of credit must go to Ozil for his impact in the side.
The Gunners are not only top of the Premier League but are top of their group in Champions League as well. Well, One man’s loss is another man’s gain – and like that, Arsenal fans won’t mind giving Ancelotti an imaginary dinner each and every night for his decision that could change the destiny of Arsenal football club.
