Italian playmaker Marco Verratti has agreed a long term deal to stay at Paris Saint-Germain until at least 2020, claims his agent.
Verratti’s current contract runs until 2019, but it appears PSG want to tie him up for a longer period.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United, while European Champions Barcelona are also thought to be his long term admirers.
“We need to put everything in black and white, but we found an agreement,” Verratti’s agent, Donato Di Campli, told Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport.
“He will remain long in Paris, at least until 2020. This is already the fourth renewal, it is now demonstrating that he deserves these commitments.”
According to reports from the British press, Verratti has a £72m price tag slapped on his head, and Manchester United are willing to break the bank to acquire his services.
Barcelona legend Xavi recently said that Verratti would be an ideal fit for the La Liga Champions. There have been a reported interest from Real Madrid as well, but the Italy international has dismissed such suggestions.
Verratti joined PSG in 2012 from Pescara, and has been one of the league’s top performance since then. He has recently revealed his desire to reunite with his former PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti, who will take charge at Bayern Munich next summer, and Verratti’s agent also feels that at some stage in the future the transfer could happen.
