Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena this summer and it appears that the Polish striker is already in talks with clubs.
The Polish striker’s agent has confirmed that the player has held talks with Real Madrid regarding a summer transfer. He also confirmed that Bayern Munich are aware of those meetings.
“Real Madrid contacted us a few weeks ago, we listened to everything they said. It’s a big and exciting club,” Kucharski said. “We have informed FC Bayern that we’ve held talks with Madrid.”
Speaking about his contract with Bayern Munich, Lewandowski added: “Contracts are not a holy relic in football. You can like this attitude or not but it’s the truth. Sometimes you have to think about if it is meaningful to try out a new impulse.”
The player is clearly hinting that if there is an opportunity to join Real Madrid, his contract with Bayern Munich won’t mean much. Considering the fact that he left Dortmund to join Bayern on a free, his current employers should not be surprised with this attitude.
Lewandowski has been the second best striker in the world after Luis Suarez, ever since he joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid are keen on signing the Bayern Munich star in order to add depth and quality to their attack.
Often injuries to Bale and Benzema have left Los Blancos with a mediocre attack and it seems that Zidane is keen on addressing that issue this summer.
Furthermore, with Ronaldo nearing the end of his Real Madrid contract, Lewandowski could also be his high profile replacement in the long term.
The Poland international has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Arsenal as well. It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid do submit a formal offer for him, but it is certain that Bayern will not sell cheap.
Real Madrid might have get closer to their transfer record in order to land him this summer.
