He only moved to the Parc De Princes in the summer, but rumours that PSG striker Edinson Cavani has failed to settle in the French capital have been rife over the last few months.
According to ‘The Daily Mail’, Cavani could make the move to the Premier League as early as January, with Man Utd joining Chelsea in keeping tabs on the super-striker.
The Uruguayan hit-man, who has a ratio of almost a goal-a-game for the reigning French Champions, has so far failed to oust Zlatan Ibrahimovic as PSG’s main centre-forward.
Both strikers prefer a central starting berth, but with PSG boss Laurent Blanc favouring a 4-3-3 formation, Cavani has found himself deployed on the wing in 14 out of the 22 games he has taken part in this season.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has finally lost patience with his strikers at the Bridge, declaring his wish for a ‘killer’ striker. The Blues failed to lure the Uraguyan to Stamford Bridge from Napoli in the summer, but have kept tabs on the player ever since.
There are few better ‘killers’ around than Cavani; but surely January is too early for such a high profile signing to throw in the towel? Stranger things have happened, mind.
If this persistant rumour does come to fruition, Utd’s David Moyes better be prepared to fight hard for the striker, as Chelsea won’t want to miss out twice.
Meanwhile, it seems that Uruguayans are the flavour of the day, with Arsene Wenger admitting he still has ‘Suarez fever’, after failing to capture the striker last summer.
The Arsenal boss told ‘The Sun’ that he still greatly admires the Liverpool striker, and spoke of ‘all the information’ he gleaned from him during Arsenal’s summer pursuit of the 26-year-old.
Wenger also said on French TV show Telefoot: “We all dream about having players like that.”
Suarez has been the darling of the Liverpool fans this season, and his two goals and three assists yesterday saw rivals Tottenham smashed at White Hart Lane.
His stunning form of late surely puts paid to any lone bid from Arsenal to sign the striker in the summer; with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid surely primed to come in for the former Ajax man in the summer.
What do you think? Would Cavani suit Chelsea or Utd better? Will Arsenal get another chance to sign Suarez? Let me know in the comments below…
