Barcelona superstar, Neymar has admitted speaking to Manchester United in the summer.

The Brazilian star was linked with a move to Old Trafford and the forward has now claimed that he did speak to Manchester United, but there was no concrete offer.

During the closing stages of the window, it appeared that Ed Woodward was in Barcelona to chalk out a stunning world record deal to sign Neymar from Barcelona. Although the rumours were ignored and labelled as a ploy to get a better contract for the player, Neymar has now lifted the lid on the story.

He said: ‘We had conversations, but there was nothing concrete.

‘I heard that there were offers but none were made to me.’

‘I want to keep giving my all and evolve season to season. I hope I will be on the Ballon d’Or podium this year.’

Barcelona paid £95 million pounds in total for the Brazilian star and will be looking to make a profit on that. Manchester United certainly have the resources to pay that kind of money, but considering United’s current status in Europe, it is hard to see how they can pull off such a deal.

However, now that Neymar has revealed that he spoke with the Old Trafford outfit, perhaps there is more to it than meets the eye. Maybe the Brazilian was impressed with United’s ambition in the market.

Whatever the case, these are certainly interesting claims from Neymar and will cause further speculations in the media, as far as Manchester United transfers are concerned.
