Manchester United are showing keen interest in Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, who has a £32m release clause on his contract.
The Mail reported couple of days back that Arsenal are showing interest in landing Costa from Spain. The Gunners desperately need a striker in January to ease off the burden from the shoulders of Olivier Giroud.
Costa has scored 22 goals in 21 games this season, including 17 goals in 16 games in La Liga, and signed a new deal with Madrid in August until 2018. The Mail reports that Arsenal scouts have watched him recently but the Gunners are unwilling to match his release clause. Further, Atletico are in challenging position for the La Liga title and it’s highly unlikely that would be willing to part ways with their striker.
Also, there is an issue whether he at all would be willing to leave Spain, after pledging his international allegiance via residency.
It is bid strange that Manchester United are monitoring his progress, if the reports are to be believed. The Red Devils have avalanche of forwards on their ranks; the likes of Javier Hernandez are failing to get regular games, while it is central midfield that needs immediate attention and not the strike department.
Atletico could be willing to do any business next summer and it is highly unlikely that they would entertain any move for Costa in January. Arsenal are also interested in Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.
