Manchester United camp are buzzing at the moment, despite their shock 4-0 defeat at the hands of MK Dons yesterday.

The Red Devils have broken the British transfer record by signing Angel di Maria from Real Madrid, while there is a strong feeling among the supporters that Manchester United will sign at least two more players before the window shuts.

The situation of William Carvalho is getting interesting day by day. The highly rated Sporting midfielder, who has a release clause of €45m, had been intensively scouted by Manchester United for a good period of over one year.

He was one of the main targets of Manchester United’s ex manager David Moyes, but the interest somewhat died down after the appointment of Louis van Gaal.

In the past one month, Arsenal have emerged as a strong candidate to sign him. The Gunners had even lodged two bids but both were rejected.

Sporting understand that top European clubs will not pay €45m for him at the moment (performance in the World Cup also a factor) so they are willing to do any business for around €30m only.

However, they want the money to be paid in one go. Sporting only owns 60% of the player’s economic rights therefore it is imperative they’ll try their best to squeeze out the maximum profit out of this deal.

Arsenal are willing to pay around €25m but through two instalment payments, something Sporting do not encourage.

According to reports from Portugal newspaper Record, Manchester United are back in the race for Carvalho, although they claim Arsenal are still in pole position to land him.

Sporting chief Bruno Carvalho has insisted that club won’t sell below his €45m release clause, but the Lions could do business at €30m as well. They are expecting an offer from either or both the clubs in the next few days.
