Liverpool are showing interest in Benfica’s Argentine winger Nicolas Gaitan, who is also a long term target of Manchester United, according to talkSPORT.
The 26-year-old winger has been a long term target of Manchester United. Back in 2012, reports surfaced that the Red Devils have almost signed him while the winger has been linked with a move in the last January transfer window as well.
United have been watching several players based in Portugal over the last few months with Gaitan’s teammate Ezequiel Garay and William Carvalho are also thought to be potential candidates on Moyes’ wish list.
If the reports are to be believed, Moyes will be handed a £200million transfer war-chest in the summer and the Scot will be looking to make the full use of it by purchasing top quality players to enhance their chances of challenging for all major honours next season.
If Liverpool finish in top four this season, money won’t be a factor for them to lure Gaitan, who would cost around £16m.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool make a move for Gaitan in the summer, as the Reds have other wing targets as well. They were heavily linked with a move for Konoplyanka in the January transfer window and there is a high possibility they would make a move for him again.
