Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka.
The Switzerland international has been one of the best central midfielders in Germany for the last two seasons and has been a target for several European heavyweights like Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
According to latest reports, Arsenal are leading the race for Xhaka and have made an offer of around 40 million Euros for him. The report also adds that Xhaka travelled to London yesterday for a medical with Arsenal.
Xhaka has previously hinted that his future lies in the Premier League and that Arsenal are an ‘awesome club’.
It seems that a move to Arsenal is really close for the Bundesliga star. The Gunners do need a new central midfielder, someone who can add defensive depth as well and Xhaka would be an outstanding addition.
Arsenal will need to add to their midfield and attack in order to challenge for the title next season and with the Xhaka signing they can address one of their two major weaknesses right away.
Xhaka was a target for the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as well but it appears that the player is now ready to join the Gunners instead.
