Reports from Germany have suggested that Mario Mandzukic’s career at Bayern Munich is over after the Croatian striker was dropped by Pep Guardiola for the German Cup final against Borussia Dortmund.

Mandzukic was absent from Bayern’s post match celebrations and the German Press believe that the 27 year old has gone back to his home country. National daily Bild have suggested that Mandzukic mocked Guardiola in the dressing room after Real Madrid humiliated Bayern by 4-0 at the Allianz Arena in second leg of the semi final of the Champions League earlier this month.

Moreover, the Croatian wouldn’t be the first choice and will have have to play second fiddle to incoming striker Robert Lewandowski, who is set to join the Bavarians in the summer. This would certainly mean that Mandzukic’s career is well and truly over at Munich.

We had earlier reported that Chelsea are interested to secure the services of the deadly striker who has hit the back of the net 21 times and grabbed 6 assists in 41 appearances this season.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had earlier claimed “If Mario stays here, it won’t be easy for him. Because a world-class player is coming to us. The question is whether he wants to face up to this competition or would prefer to go to another club. We are open and fair and we talk about everything, so nothing is decided.”

Well known and reputed Bundesliga journalist Raphael Honigstein also believes that there is no way back for Mandzukic  in Guardiola’s team.

There have also been reports that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has set his sights on the Croatian and is looking to secure his services for the coming season.
