Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez was close to sign for Arsenal before the Gunners sealed the transfer of Alexis Sanchez. Spanish media outlet Mundo Deperotivo has published a story which claims that Pedro was almost on the verge of sealing a transfer to the London side.
The Spaniard who was always second choice to Alexis Sanchez under previous manager Tata Martino felt that his time was over at the Camp Nou. The report also claims that Cesc Fabregas, who is now at Chelsea had spoken with Pedro over the environment at the North London side.
However the situation completely changed when Martino left the club and was replaced by Luis Enrique in the summer. The new manager called Pedro personally, urging him to stay at the Blaugrana. As the player felt convinced, he told his representative that he was staying at the club despite the interest from Arsenal. It was only then that Arsene Wenger decided to pursue his interest in Chilean Alexis Sanchez.
Pedro has since then made 4 starts under Enrique apart from his 2 substitute appearances in the new season season and has a contract till 2016. The 27 year old has also scored a solitary goal as Barcelona top the La Liga standings with 19 points from 7 games.
