Barcelona forward Pedro has been linked with a move to Manchester United all summer.
It appeared that the Barcelona man is frustrated with the lack of playing time at Camp Nou and wants a move to get more minutes next season.
According to Telegraph, Van Gaal promised more game time to Pedro and it seemed that the deal was close.
However, after his Supercup winner yesterday, Pedro has claimed that he never wanted to leave and never asked the club to let him go.
Earlier, Barcelona technical secretary, Robert Fernandez stated that Pedro has asked for a transfer this summer and the club cannot keep him if someone agrees to pay his release clause.
“Pedro asked us for the transfer. We are not going to accept less than €30m for him, it’s not negotiable,” he said.
The player has however rubbished such claims and said that he never spoke to the club secretary.
“The sports director says I said I want out? He shouldn’t say that, I barely talked with him,” Pedro said.
“I talked with the president and others. This is a difficult situation for me, of course I wanted to start. I don’t know what will happen, but I will always be a Barça fan.
“Do I want to leave? The answer is ‘no’, but my situation is difficult. It’s not about money, but about more playing time.”
Manchester United Transfer: Deal seemed all but done a few days ago
Earlier this summer the player’s mother claimed that her son is on his way to England.
Furthermore, the Barcelona manager also said that the club are powerless in this case and that the player has informed his teammates that he wants to leave.
Manchester United coach, Frans Hoek also hinted that the club could move for Pedro after the sale of Di Maria.
