Barcelona manager Luis Enrique further fuelled the talks of Pedro to United after his side’s clash with LA Galaxy. The former Barcelona player confirmed that the club are powerless as far as Pedro’s transfer is concerned.
He also stated that if Pedro wanted to leave, his suitors will have to meet his 22 million pound release clause and then it will depend on the player.
“Pedro? If he wants to go, a club will have to meet his release clause,” Enrique said. “I have talked with Pedro to discuss his situation.
“I have told him how I think about it and he told me how he feels about it, but I obviously won’t reveal the exact content of the conversation we had”, he said.
Earlier this week, Luis Suarez also urged Pedro to continue at Barcelona. However, it seems that the Spain international is keen on a move way, due to the lack of game time at Camp Nou.
The Barcelona forward signed a new deal at the club in order to lower his release clause and has attracted a lot of interest from Chelsea and Manchester United this summer. It is believed that the Red Devils are in pole position to land the wide forward, with Di Maria edging closer to an Old Trafford exit.
Pedro would be quality signing for Manchester United and would provide them with much needed pace and goals from out wide. With the likes of Valencia and Young last season, United struggled for pace and goals from wide areas. However, Van Gaal has addressed those problems with the addition of Memphis Depay.
It seems Pedro is also edging closer to a move to Old Trafford and will complete a fearsome attacking trio with Depay and Rooney.
