140412201527-fabianski-top-story-topLukasz Fabianski’s move to Swansea City has disappointed Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager was not keen on letting the goalkeeper leave the Emirates.

The 29-year-old played his last match for Arsenal in the FA Cup final and helped the North London club end their close to a decade long trophy drought earlier in May. They defeated Hull City in the finals.

Fabianski’s contract at Arsenal expired at the end of the last season and he was also second fiddle to his compatriot Wojciech Szczesny. Lack of first team appearances saw him leave Wenger’s side and join Swansea City on a free transfer.

“I didn’t want to let him go, he was at the end of his contract, We didn’t sell the player but when you get to 27 or 28 and you’re not a regular first choice, you can understand that a player wants to go,” Wenger told the club’s official website.

Arsenal make a trip to the Liberty Stadium as they face Garry Monk’s side for their upcoming league fixture. Wenger is hoping for a tough clash when they face the Welsh club as they started the campaign with a brighter note with a 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

“They are a side who have always played well and they are stabilised in the Premier League. They have a way to play and when you go to Swansea you know you face a tough opponent,” Arsenal manager said.

The Gunners saw their last match end in a 3-3 draw after they gave away a three goal lead in the Champions League clash against Belgian side Anderlecht. Wenger and Arsenal players would be looking to bounce back when they face Swansea later this weekend.

A victory will be a much need boost before the international break as they next face United in the league clash later this month.
