Ahead of Arsenal’s mid-week Premier League clash to Southampton at the Emirates on Tuesday, Arsene Wenger in his pre-match press conference has told reporters that he doesn’t expect any major transfers to take place for the Gunners.
Wenger revealed that he doesn’t have any fresh injury concerns except Tomas Rosicky, who picked up an injury in his last match and won’t be available against Southampton.
“It is a thigh problem. We don’t now how deep the problem is but he will have a scan,” said Wenger on Rosciky’s injury.
The Frenchman has also revealed that England midfielder Jack Wilshere is recovering well but he is still four weeks away from returning to full fitness.
While Wenger doesn’t expect any players to come in on deadline day, but he joked that he cannot say ‘no’ if Barcelona star Lionel Messi is available for hire.
Wenger on likelihood of further transfers: “99pc no. If Messi knocks on my door at 5.50pm I will not say ‘please go back to Barcelona’.”

Arsenal might not sign any players today but there is a possibility of one or two players moving out on loan elsewhere.
Wenger confirmed that Mathieu Debuchy is likely to remain with the Gunners until at least the end of the season, but at the same time suggested that there is still a good chance that the right-back will leave on loan.
Likewise, young Serge Gnabry is expected to leave the club on loan today. Two clubs are vying for his signature, although Wenger didn’t go into any details.
