According to DN Sport journalist Gonçalo Lopes, Arsenal have made a late offer to snatch William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon in the last couple of hours. However Goncalo who is the reporter for the Portuguese media outlet claims that the offer is way too short for the Portuguese club’s evaluation is most likely to be rejected.

The report however mentions Sky Sports in their Live blog claiming that Carvalho is set to stay at his present club and is more than happy at the moment. The Gunners’ need for a central defensive midfielder is well documented and they have been earlier linked with Sami Khedira but the Real Madrid player’s wages were a potential stumbling block.
Manchester United have also been linked with the youngster as we had earlier reported but the 22 year old is unlikely to move in the remaining hours of the deadline day. Arsenal had also had two bids rejected by Sporting for teh player earlier in the transfer window.
